20% of each individual proceeds goes to support Twin Cities Trans Mutual Aid. This group works to provide mutual aid to Trans folks right here in Minnesota by raising funds with no strings attached. They’ve personally saved a few of my friends from horrible situations, and I’d like to give back.
The Rivera is named after pioneer and icon Sylvia Rivera. A veteran of the 1969 Stonewall Inn uprising, Sylvia Rivera was a tireless advocate for those silenced and disregarded by larger movements. Throughout her life, she fought against the exclusion of transgender people, especially transgender people of color, from the larger movement for gay rights.
